Otherbox

Privacy Policy

The short version:

  • We keep the stations you start, the songs you play and your thumbs up and down, so your stations follow your taste.
  • No ads, no tracking, no selling of data. The app has no email sign-in.
  • You can download all of it, or delete your account, in the app: Settings, then Your data.
  • Every song is AI-generated. The artist or song you type only sets the style.

Who we are

Otherbox is an app for iPhone, Android and the web that plays original, AI-generated songs in the style of an artist, song or mood you choose. It is made by S-Block Technologies ("we"). This policy covers the Otherbox apps, app.otherbox.app and otherbox.app.

What we keep

  • Your stations: the artist, song or words you typed to start each one, its settings, and when you last played it.
  • Listening: which songs you started, skipped or finished, and your thumbs up and down.
  • Your device session: a random ID the app stores on your device, and when it was first and last used. If you joined with an invite, the name we gave that invite.
  • Waitlist: if you joined the waitlist on otherbox.app, your email address and the time you signed up, used only to invite you and to tell you about Otherbox.
  • Crash reports: when the app or our server hits an error, the error message, where in the code it happened, your platform (iPhone, Android or web) and the app version. Crash reports don't include your session, invite or listening history, so they aren't linked to you.

We don't collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone or advertising ID, and we don't use tracking cookies or third-party analytics in the app.

Who processes it

Otherbox runs on a server we rent from OVHcloud in the United States. The artist or song you type is sent to Google Gemini, to describe its musical style, and to MusicBrainz, to suggest matching artists and songs. The services that write the lyrics, record the songs and paint the album covers (Google Gemini and Lyria, and OpenAI) receive only that style description, never the artist or song you typed, your session or your email address.

Songs made for you

The songs and album covers Otherbox makes are original and contain nothing about you. A song first made for your station may also play on other listeners' stations with a similar style. Deleting your account removes your stations, history and thumbs, but songs already made stay in Otherbox's shared collection without any link to you.

Download or delete your data

In the app, open Settings, then Your data. Download my data gives you a file with your stations, thumbs and plays. Delete my account deletes your stations, thumbs, plays and device sessions on every device that uses the same invite, and your invite link stops working. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone. To be removed from the waitlist, or for any other request, email support@sblocktechnologies.com.

How long we keep it

We keep your stations and listening history until you delete your account. Crash reports and the waitlist are kept only as long as we need them to fix problems and run the beta. Our nightly database backups are replaced over time (the server keeps the last 14), so deleted data leaves them as they roll over.

Children

Otherbox is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used Otherbox, email us and we will delete the data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date.
